3 Object Lessons; William Hunter’s Legacy

Teaching was all-important to Hunter – he understood his chief legacy to be the successful careers of his students, whether those doctors who established the first medical school in America or the artists who he taught as the first Professor of Anatomy at the Royal Academy in London. This talk will examine how Hunter’s ideas and his museum influenced his immediate successors. These influences continue, as does the tangible legacy of his bequest to the University of Glasgow.
